Agarose-based Drug Delivery Service

Precision and Quality Assured Agarose-based Drug Delivery at Your Fingertips

The role of agarose in drug delivery systems is to act as a carrier in which drugs are encapsulated and delivered inside the human body utilizing injection or oral administration. This technique has the advantages of controlled release, high efficiency, low toxicity, and biocompatibility and can be utilized in fields such as medicine, chemical, and food industries. CD BioGlyco has been at the forefront of the pharmaceutical industry for decades, offering our esteemed clients a highly specialized and innovative GlycoCLICK™-based Drug Delivery Service. The materials in our service include but are not limited to β-Cyclodextrin (CD), Agarose, and Nanometabolic Precursors (Nano-MP). One of our flagship services is our agarose-based drug delivery service, which has garnered widespread recognition for its exceptional efficacy and reliability.

  • First, we add agarose powder to a buffer solution and dissolve it by heating and stirring. Then, compounds with click-responsive functional groups (e.g., alkynyl or azide groups) are added to the agarose solution, which undergoes a click reaction with agarose to form an agarose gel containing click-responsive functional groups.
  • Secondly, we modify the drug to be delivered with a compound that has an affinity for the click-reactive functional group (e.g., a ligand with an alkyne or azide group). The drug is linked to the click-reactive functional group by a click reaction to form the drug-modified compound. We then add the drug-modified compound to the agarose gel containing the click-reactive functional group and mix it thoroughly. Through the click reaction, the drug-modified compound is linked to the agarose gel to realize the encapsulation of the drug.
  • Finally, the drug-modified agarose mixture is carefully poured into the mold to achieve the desired shape and undergoes a curing process. The drug will be released in a controlled manner in an appropriate buffer solution.

Results: This article describes a delivery system based on click chemistry and free radical initiation that captures a charge through a click chemistry reaction and releases the charge through a free radical-initiated reaction. The paper uses a polymer and a fluorescent dye to construct a delivery system that captures the load via a click chemistry reaction and releases the load via an enzyme. The system can concentrate the load at the site of disease and release the load locally at the site of disease by matrix metalloproteinases. The paper also mentions the use of photoinitiated radicals for cross-linking of polymers trapping the loaders and controlling the release of the loaders by adjusting the ratio of the different components. This delivery system has a controlled release rate and efficient loader release capability, which can be applied to drug delivery and other applications in the field.

Applications

  • Agarose has good biocompatibility and degradability, and it is important to make the production of the slow-release vaccine. It is used to combine with drugs to slow down the drug release in the body, thereby extending the immune effect.
  • Agarose can be prepared in the form of gels or microspheres and can be used to control the rate and duration of drug release. Principle of the multi-phase targeting system.
  • Agarose gel can be used as an ideal three-dimensional scaffold for cell and tissue engineering. It mimics the extracellular matrix environment, promotes cell growth and differentiation, and be applied to the repair of damaged tissues or organs.

Advantages

  • Agarose-based drug delivery systems can be tailored to facilitate the targeted delivery of a diverse array of therapeutic agents, encompassing small molecules, proteins, peptides, and nucleic acids, catering to an extensive range of research requirements.
  • Agarose is extremely biocompatible and it does not cause an immune response in the body, making it safe to use as a drug carrier.
  • Agarose-based drug delivery systems can be prepared in different forms, such as gel, bead, or film, offering a remarkably versatile range of delivery routes.
