Properties
Description
Azido-PEG5-NHS ester functions as a PEG reagent designed for click chemistry applications. Its azide (N3) group can engage in reactions with alkynes such as BCN or DBCO via click chemistry processes resulting in stable triazole formations. The NHS ester allows for labeling primary amines t-found in proteins, amine-modified oligonucleotides, and other molecules containing amines. Furthermore, the hydrophilic nature of the PEG spacer improves solubility in water-based media.
Molecular Formula
C17H28N4O9
Identity
Confirmed by NMR.
Applications
Azido-PEG5-NHS ester is commonly used for the modification of biomolecules, especially proteins. The NHS ester reacts with amine groups on proteins, and the PEG chain improves the solubility and stability of the modified biomolecules. It can also be applied in the fabrication of biosensors or drug delivery systems.
