Properties
Description
Azido-PEG8-NHS ester is a widely used reagent for click chemistrythat features both an azide and an NHS ester functionality. Its hydrophilic PEG spacer increases solubility in aqueous environments. As previously noted, its azide moiety can react with alkyne compounds like BCN or DBCO through click chemistry processes leading to stable triazole formations. Additionally, the NHS ester allows labeling of primary amines t-present in proteins and other amine-containing entities.
Molecular Formula
C23H40N4O12
Solubility
DMSO, DCM, DMF
Identity
Confirmed by NMR.
Applications
This compound is often used for the modification of biomolecules, especially proteins. The NHS ester group reacts with amine groups on proteins, and the long PEG chain improves the solubility and stability of the modified biomolecules. It can also be used in the preparation of drug delivery systems or surface modification of materials.
