Description
Hyaluronic acid is comprised of hyaluronic acid that has been functionalized with a terminal carboxylic acid, through an amide bond. The carboxylic acid groups react with primary amine groups in the presence of activators (e.g., EDC or HATU) to form a stable amide linkage.
Applications
Hyaluronic acid is utilized for skin hydration, joint lubrication, and as a viscosupplement in medical applications.
